Tyree - Player

Tyree was an NFL wide receiver that came from Syracuse University. Now retired from American football his special teams play earned him a Pro Bowl selection in 2005. First drafted by the New York Giants in the 2003 season during round six. During a portion of his career he also played for the Baltimore Ravens.

Tyree’s Play Of the Decade

Referred to as “the greatest play the Super Bowl has ever produce” and known as the “helmet catch” Tyree’s famous play was awarded Play of the Decade (2000s) by Tyree - NFL films. The spectacular move featured Tyree jumping into the air and catching the football against his helmet after Manning escaped from three Patriots defensive players.

Starting 5 times and in a total of 6 postseason games Tyree has played a total of 73 season games during regular play. With 54 reciptions racking up 650 yards and 4 plays that ended with touchdowns he has also completed 85 special team tackles. In 2007 3 or his 4 post season catches were during the Super Bowl. David Tyree missed the 2008 playing season completely because of knee surgery. He was listed as physically unable to perform in July when training camp reopened. When Tyree did become eligible the Giants placed him on the reserve list. He was an injured player. He also missed servel games in the 2007 season because of a fractured wrist and the death of his mother.
